Our Kapnios 2017 has obtained the maximum recognition of the FOUR VINES in the seventh edition of the AIS Italian Sommelier Association's GUIDE to Italian wines.
This year The WineHunter Award went to ca. 3000 wines of over approx. 7000 wines tasted. This year they have been. 20% more wines than last year.

The Masseria Frattasi winery is located in the mountains, under the Taburno, the building dates back to 1779, the year the farm was founded.
Taburno derives from Taurn, which in Minoan dialect meant mountain crossed by ravines and canyons. The peoples of Crete brought the vine in the first Greek colonization in these lands, three thousand years ago.
We offer you different qualities of wines to satisfy the taste of each one, Falanghina, Aglianico, Moscato, Greco, Fiano.
The jewels of the house are called KAPNIOS, the first Aglianico vinified with the amarone system. To tell the truth, Pliny already mentioned wines with great structure and dried wines produced by the Samnites, so we did nothing but produce wines as they were already done in these lands three thousand years ago. Kapnios is made with maniacally selected grapes, ripe, then dried in outdoor fruit stores, where artificial conditioning systems are banned. The perfect dried grapes are then vinified in January, matured in oak barriques for at least two years, then they are bottled.
The cellar is the project of a great architect. A core of reinforced concrete covered like a glaze of majestic boulders of white limestone: the same stone as the mountain where the vines grow.
In our cellars where cold technologies are expressed at the highest levels, the grapes retain truly unobtainable aromas and harmonies.
The barrel room, the rooms for the conservation of the reserve are located directly in the farm, with constant humidity and temperature all year round. The maturation takes place in 225 liter wooden barrels, new, of French oak obtained in the forests of Allier, Vosges and Never.
